Sam Kim is a US-qualified attorney (New York), and a Partner/Senior Foreign Attorney of Yoon & Yang’s International Arbitration and Litigation Practice Group. He has extensive experience handling international litigation and arbitration cases. Especially, Mr. Kim has represented clients in disputes related to inbound/outbound investments, joint ventures, sales of goods, licensing of intellectual property, shipping, and construction and in arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, HKIAC, SIAC, AAA, KCAB, DIS, and UNCITRAL. Mr. Kim has also advised clients on various US litigation cases involving class actions, product liability, misappropriation of trade secret, construction and other general commercial disputes as well as on discovery.

Prior to joining Yoon & Yang, he served as an in-house counsel where he handled various types of cases including complex litigations and disputes in countries such as the United States, Australia, Germany, Turkey, and the Netherlands, as well as antidumping and countervailing duties investigations by the United States government.

He is ranked as a Band 4 practitioner by Chambers & Partners 2022 (Asia-Pacific & Global) edition.

  • Advised SK Hynix for its multi-billion dollar trade secrets litigations in Japan and in the US.
  • Represented a public city enterprise in an ICC arbitration against a cross border consortium dispute arising out of a JVA for a multi-billion dollar city development project.
  • Advised a construction company in US litigation, mediation, and AAA Construction Arbitration against a plant operator in a dispute arising out of a plant construction project.
  • Represented a global conglomerate in a KCAB arbitration against a Korean power utility company in a dispute arising out of a commercial contract.
