Mark DiCello has a simple message: Society doesn’t just give you Justice– you have to fight for it. This insight forms the heart of his approach to bringing suit against powerful companies and institutions that harm ordinary people across the country. He contends that the only way to create positive change is to force organizations to take responsibility for their actions – and the best means to exert such pressure is the transfer wealth through the legal process.

His clients are all victims – from individuals suffering catastrophic personal injuries to groups of plaintiffs harmed by medical devices, pharmaceutical products, chemicals, automobiles, and more. He has led headline-grabbing mass tort and product liability cases and co-led massive multidistrict litigations.

Mark first stepped into a position of national leadership in medical device litigation when in 2010 he organized a conference in Chicago that brought together to top lawyers in medical product liability. His efforts would lead to his appointment in 2012 with a small group of lawyers to a leadership team on behalf of plaintiffs around the country injured by hip implant components built by Stryker Howmedica. That team would shape a historic settlement in which Stryker agreed to pay plaintiffs $2.1 billion. In 2017 he went after Stryker again for another defective hip implant which resulted in another resolution that continues to benefit patients around the country. He is relentless in his determination to compel medical device companies to improve its product designs to forestall patient suffering and loss of mobility in the future. Mark has brought this same passion for justice in other major multi-district litigations related to vaginal mesh manufactured by Mentor Corp., as well as a number of other device manufacturers who manufactured similar devices used to treat women with urinary incontinence.

For Mark, all of these experiences – and the passion with which he pursues justice – have led inevitably to the 2017 creation of powerhouse trial firm DiCello Levitt Gutzler. He views the firm as unique in the industry – focused on litigations in the U.S. and abroad with a ferocious team of trial lawyers attaining justice for clients. His vision – shared everyone at the firm – is to build a firm with a great reputation, proven results and strong underlying frameworks to ensure that the firm can live on and thrive for generations to come.
