Lorelie Masters has won significant decisions, trials, and arbitrations enforcing insurance for clients, including confidential international arbitrations and litigations for clients like New Century Liquidating Trust, Hoechst Celanese/Ticona, and Dow Corning. A sought-after writer, speaker, and leader on coverage issues, Ms. Masters served as an Adviser for eight years to the American Law Institute’s Restatement of the Law, Liability Insurance. Named a “top 10” lawyer in DC, she has served on the American Bar Association’s Board of Governors, as President of the Women’s D.C. Bar Association, and as an officer of the D.C. Bar Foundation. She is author of two well-known treatises, Insurance Coverage Litigation and Liability Insurance in International Arbitration: The Bermuda Form. The Bermuda Form treatise won the British Insurance Law Association’s 2012 Book Prize and has been called the “standard work on the topic” by the English Court of Appeal. Among other accomplishments, she helped found the American College of Coverage Counsel and was its second President; and served as national Policyholder Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. She has an active pro bono practice and is a founding board member of the Human Trafficking Legal Center. She ran for Attorney General in DC’s first-ever election for that position.
