Joshua L. Blosveren represents clients in a diverse range of complex business litigation matters, including insurance coverage, intellectual property, and employment law.

Josh has successfully litigated and tried cases and argued appeals in numerous courts and arbitral forums. Josh recently tried and won two arbitrations: In one, the arbitrators rejected an attempt by the sole competitor in a $300 million product market to drive the firm’s client out of the market based on an alleged breach of a license agreement; in the other, the arbitrator ruled that the firm’s client was not precluded from asserting claims implicating nearly $20 million in insurance coverage for hundreds of premises liability claims.

In the past few months, Josh secured a complete victory in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of the firm’s client in connection with its claim for coverage under a cargo insurance policy after the loss of its merchandise, and negotiated a favorable settlement for another client, the owner of a radio station, in an insurance coverage litigation concerning a high-profile invasion-of-privacy lawsuit brought by a retired professional wrestler alleging harm from the release of a sex tape, after defeating the insurer’s motion to dismiss the company’s claims for breach of contract and bad faith.

Josh’s current matters include: the representation of a global agrochemicals company in an arbitration seeking insurance coverage for losses exceeding $700 million arising from the company’s allegedly negligent commercialization of a product, as well as in litigation and arbitration seeking insurance coverage for mounting losses (currently in excess of $250 million) arising from personal injuries allegedly caused by another product; the directors of a well-known energy and automotive company in connection with their coverage claims relating to a class action litigation challenging the CEO’s compensation; and a global conglomerate in a broad range of insurance matters, including a claim for losses arising from alleged copyright violations implicating hundreds of millions of dollars, a claim for business interruption losses arising from a flood implicating tens of millions of dollars, and an eight-figure claim under a representations and warranties insurance policy arising from the acquisition of a company.

Josh was named an Elite Boutique Trailblazer by The National Law Journal in 2019 and has been recognized as a New York Metro Super Lawyer since 2018.

In 2013, Josh was appointed by the Chief Judge of the State of New York to the Commercial Division Advisory Council, a permanent group that advises the Chief Judge on an ongoing basis regarding matters involving the Commercial Division. From 2016 to 2018, Josh served as the editor-in-chief of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Law Journal; he previously served as its co-executive editor. He holds leadership roles in various ABA committees, is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and is a member of the Associate Board of Bottom Line New York, a nonprofit organization that helps first-generation students from low-income backgrounds obtain college entry and earn their degrees.
