Hubert Sibre is a business law partner in the Montréal office of Miller Thomson. His practice focuses mainly on commercial litigation and arbitration along with, securities and restructuring. He has also led multiple transactions and major projects with regard to real estate and infrastructure. His roster of clients includes all types of businesses which have to deal with high-risk situations. Entrepreneurs and executives of various industries constantly rely on him for his business acumen and to deal with important business and strategic issues. 

He started his career as legal counsel with the National Bank of Canada and GMAC. He has authored and co-authored books and articles pertaining to restructuring, insolvency, credit and civil procedure, including a publication on abuse of process before the courts and the enforcement of security interests in Quebec. He has also been frequently called to plead before courts and instances of all levels, including more than once before the Supreme Court of Canada and on a regular basis before courts of appeal. He has lead numerous arbitration processes. 

He has been a jury member for the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy with regard to trustee licensing. Mr. Sibre’s expertise is frequently sought by legal and academic institutions for whom he has lectured in Canada, the US and Europe, namely about insolvency and credit issues. He has taught secured rights and priorities at the École du Barreau du Québec (Bar School) where he was also responsible for the insolvency curriculum. Mr. Sibre is fluent in both English and French.
