Life and disability claims: factual/legal analysis, coverage opinions, extracontractual damage assessments, court proceedings and mediation.
Priority/loss transfer disputes: private arbitrations, multiparty/multijurisdictional disputes, dependency, fault determination/allocation, opinion, and analysis.
Helen has been counsel on industry-leading decisions establishing precedents in the areas of catastrophic impairment, consent for examinations, collateral benefit setoff, limitation periods, benefit calculation, medical/rehabilitation limits, fraudulent claims, insurance reserves and expert reports.
Helen holds a Certificate in Regulatory Compliance and Legal Risk Management for Financial Institutions and is an instructor for the Risk Management Society on Contractual Risk Transfer in Canada.
An active member of her community, Helen has had the privilege of serving in local leadership positions as past chair of the Grand River Hospital Foundation, Conestoga College, the Zonta Club of Kitchener-Waterloo and is currently a director of Stratford Summer Music.
