Douglas acts as Counsel at BD&P and is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and Chairman of the Advocate Society Alberta Advisory Committee. He is a past President of the Law Society of Alberta. He has over 40 years’ experience in corporate, commercial, contractual, product liability and professional negligence liability claims including class action matters. He is also active in domestic and international arbitration proceedings.


His expertise in oil and gas litigation includes contractual, joint venture, accounting, royalty, operator and other energy related disputes. In construction matters he is experienced in industrial, oil and gas, commercial and institutional construction disputes including claims involving product liability, delay and cost overruns and faulty design and workmanship issues.


Douglas provides franchises, dealerships and distributorships advice and direction including litigation services when franchise relations break down. He is also well versed in insurance and risk management litigation including construction matters, director and officer liability issues and coverage issues and recommendations.


Douglas advises in all areas of corporate securities litigation including shareholder disputes, oppression actions, as well as civil claims of fiduciary duty, secondary market misrepresentation and other securities-related causes of action.


Douglas was previously the Chair of the Advocate Society and Alberta Advisory Committee.
