The team has particular expertise in resolving complex cross-border investments, maritime and international trade and energy. The firm is also at the forefront of the third-party funding movement in Singapore.
In one case highlight, the firm represented Jaguar Energy Guatemala and AEI Guatemala Jaguar in resisting an application in the Singapore courts to annul an ICC arbitration award rendered in the client’s favour for $150 million in relation to the construction of a power plant in Guatemala.
The firm also acted for Tarek Damerji in resisting an attempt to annul the arbitration award brought by Leighton Offshore.
The firm bolstered its marine and international trade practice with the addition of partner John Simpson, who was the managing partner of Ince & Co Singapore. Simpson has 20 years of marine-related disputes, offshore oil and gas and international trade experience.
